David Petz: Story from Tara Sydor

Every summer, our family (especially my little brother, Travis, and I) looked forward to our annual summer get together with David, Carol, and their daughter Keri Petz. It was LITERALLY our summer highlight each year!! The one year (’86 or ’87??) we managed to convince them to visit us up in Cranberry Portage (MB). Always the jokester, Uncle David ‘pretended’ to use HIS house key from Langenburg to ‘open’ OUR house locks in Cranberry. I truly don’t think the look of surprise on his face could be replicated when his key ACTUALLY WORKED at our home 1000kms from his own. Truly, there is no start to our annual summer memories without thinking about Uncle David, Auntie Carol or Cousin Keri. It’s something I share with my kids every summer(we even joke about it on the way to our cabin for the first time each year, as they both know the story by heart now). Best summer memories ever.
